  • It’s been a month since I updated. It seems like I only update once a month, but time does fly. I can’t believe it’s already close to the end of October.  Soon it’s going to be year 2007.

I finally visited you sun in maryland!!! I first met her when I stayed at her place in Michigan during the AMI 2005.  youn su stayed overnight at her place too.  Our names (You sun, sue yeon and youn su) made some people confused in the beginning because they were so similar. But they got them eventually. Ah I miss those times.

So It’s been a year since I saw you sun.  Unfortunately her back was still in pain from injuring it last year (hope you feel better soon, you sun~) It was great seeing her again and just to chat. We tried making kim bap and dukboki but without a success. the problem was the rice cake, which kept turning hard due to the lack of soaking time in the water. The sauce for dukboki was successful though, so there’s still hope, right?  It’s kinda embarrassing to talk about it, but I’m sure we’re going to get better next time. We’re still learning.

I got to visit the covenant life church for Sunday service and listen to pastor Joshua harris speak. they're blessed with a great church, a great pastor and an awesome band. I hope to visit there again.

After the service, we went to the Washingtonian Center for some thai food. The pictures below are from the lake at the center.  The weather was yucky for two days when I went down to MD, but it was gorgeous the day I was leaving. It was a perfect fall afternoon just to stroll around and enjoy the day.  Wish I could’ve taken more pictures now that I look back. But here they are. (hope you like the pictures, you sun )

  • i know this is much delayed, but i promised someone to post these pictures up soon.  i spent the labor day in cape may and wildwood, nj, with some of my home church kids.  it was another perfect day to go to a beach.

these are joanna, who became a mermaid, and my little cousin, sarah, who's actually taller than me. they're so cute

this is my sister. she was home for two weeks after finishing her internship in NY. it was so good to have her back home, but she's now back in school in RI. it's always hard to say bye to her at the airport.  i'm sad i can't hang out with her anymore for awhile. but i shall visit her hopefully soon.

i think i'm afraid of heights now.  as soon as the Wheel reached the top, i immediately grabbed the bars behind me just to feel more secure.  i knew just grabbing the bars like that wouldn't help me if the ride were to collapse at that moment.  nevertheless, i still loved the view from the top of the ocean spread across the horizon.  there's something exhilarating about being so high up in the sky.

it didn't seem all that special when i was on the ground, but the view from the top of the Wheel was pretty awesome.

here are joanna, sarah and david enjoying their ride. david is an awesome older brother to these girls. thanks to him for driving these girls, they were able to have fun that day.

  • Here're some of the pictures from Chincoteague Island, VA.  Enjoy!

we stopped by the beach as soon as we got to the island last friday evening.  it was surely nice and relaxing to get away from the city for the weekend

the weather was perfect!  it was supposed to rain that day, but it didn't! i happened to be wearing pink clothes that day. and the tube happened to be pink too. so dont think the tube is mine.

posing with the V sign... gotta love it.    i felt like being a kid again for some reason.

here're haesook on the left, katie in the middle and me. once again, us with the tube. good thing we bought the tube because i can't swim, especially in the beach.

these are the ponies i saw in the island.  i got to touch them and they were so cute! they liked being touched with human hands. i wish i could've ridden one, but hopefully i can ride a horse again some day. Yup, i once rode a horse when i was a kid.

Finally, here's my steam pot of the delicious snow crabs, shrimps, oysters, potatoes and the sweetest corn.

  • i wish i could have captured some of the musical scenes in pictures.  taking pictures wasn't allowed during the show because flashes could hinder actors' performances. but here is a picture i took before the show began:

the show was 2.5-hour long, a little longer than a movie. but all the songs were great, and the stage production was amazing and full of special effects.  there were times when the audience wowed and gasped quietly, such as during a masquerade scene and the last scene when a single ray of light shines upon a white mask of the Phantom of the Opera.

i can't forget to mention how talented all the actors were at singing and acting. i saw the show at 2PM, but they had to perform again at 8PM!

some interesting quotes by the actor who played the Phantom: "Involuntary sneezing and saliva and phlegm control is a big thing for a singer-especially for a song like "Music of the Night," which has long, sustained notes everywhere. You have to know where to breathe and where to swallow."

the Phantom played his role for over 1,200 performances!   i didn't like the Phantom at first because of his seemingly selfish and threatening acts.  but i sympathized him in the end when he let go of someone he loved and was left all alone.

i didn't see the Phantom of the Opera movie, but i'm pretty sure the musical is much more interesting and impressive than the movie. i would definitely go see it again. other musicals i want to see: chicago, les miserables, beauty and the beast and the wicked.
